DNA IN A DAY TESTS

DNA in a Day is available for two types of test – legal and non-legal.

Legal tests are normally requested when a customer has a pending court case. If you are looking to resolve a doubt over the paternity of a child, a non-legal test is more suitable.

What’s the difference between the two types of DNA test?

To our laboratory there is none. All samples are tested to the same exacting standards. However, as legal tests are required by law to comply with the Australian Family Law Act, there are stricter conditions concerning sample collection. You are also required to complete official documentation before your samples are taken.

Where can DNA samples be taken?

Samples for legal DNA tests must be taken at one of our DNA collection centres. Once taken they will be securely packaged and transported back to our laboratory for testing.

Non-urgent DNA tests

If you don’t need your results the same day, we also conduct both tests above on a less urgent basis for a reduced cost. Results are normally returned within 5 to 10 business days.
